The Texas Gas Association Scholarship Fund (TGASF) offers multiple scholarship opportunities to support both emerging talent and industry professionals. Since the early 1990s, we've been investing in education to shape the future of the natural gas industry in Texas.

TGA Scholarships

Academic Scholarships

Supporting high-achieving high school graduates entering their first year of college. Eight $5,000 scholarships available annually, investing in bright minds to shape the future of the natural gas industry.

Technical/Trade School

Two $5,000 scholarships for students pursuing specialized training in technical or industrial fields. Open to recent graduates and current industry employees, kickstarting careers in the gas industry.

Darrell Cherry & Linda Femal Scholarship

Supporting full-time employees of TGA-member companies pursuing additional certifications or degrees. Four $2,500 scholarships available annually. Designed to foster professional growth and lifelong learning within the gas industry.

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must submit a completed application, one-page essay, and list of activities by the deadline. Selection is based on merit and overall application strength.

Academic Scholarship
Open to Texas high school graduates under 23, entering their first year of college. Must be a legal dependent of a TGA member company employee. Full-time enrollment is required in a four-year college or university program leading to an undergraduate degree.

Technical/Trade Scholarship
Available for Texas residents up to age 24, pursuing technical or industrial training. Open to children of TGA member company employees or current employees themselves. Ideal for those entering trade schools or technical programs.

Darrell Cherry & Linda Femal Scholarship

Exclusively for full-time employees of TGA-member companies. Supports pursuit of industry-relevant postsecondary credentials, from certifications to master's degrees. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to career development in the gas industry.

  • When is the application deadline?
    The application deadline for all scholarship types is February 28, 2025. Please submit your application by this date to ensure you're considered.
  • Can I apply for multiple scholarships?
    You may apply for any scholarship for which you meet the eligibility requirements. However, you can only receive one TGA scholarship per academic year.
  • How are recipients selected?
    The Scholarship Selection Committee reviews all complete applications based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, essay quality, and overall merit.
  • Is the scholarship renewable?
    No, TGA scholarships are awarded for one academic year only. However, you may reapply in subsequent years if you meet the eligibility criteria.
  • How can I use the scholarship funds?
    Funds are typically applied to tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses for the specified academic year.
  • Do I need to major in a specific field?
    For Academic and Technical scholarships, there's no specific major requirement. The Darrell Cherry & Linda Femal Scholarship should be relevant to advancing your career in the gas industry.
